The 100GBASE ER4 standards are met by the 100G QSFP28 ER4 transceiver module. The maximum reach distance with single-mode fiber is 40 km. Real-time digital diagnostic monitoring of many transceiver and optical link parameters is supported by the 100G ER4 transceiver. Four channels of 25Gb/s electrical data are converted into four channels of LAN-WDM optical signals by this transceiver, which then multiplexes them into a single 100Gb/s optical stream for transmission. It skillfully de-multiplexes a 100Gb/s optical input back into four separate LAN-WDM optical signal channels on the receiving end. The 100GbE IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-ER4 and ITU-T G.959.1 OTU4 (4L1-9C1F) specifications are met by this optical module.
